I like your idea of zipping around in a parking lot. If so, then I can be assured that I will see what the software uses as imput. If it is in CAN bus, I asked if my Durametric can read it. When I read the DSC documenation and threads, they imply all the data needed is buzzing around in the CAN bus. but I could be wrong, it may being fed directly to the PASM control module via a straight cable. I beleive this g-value is passed along in the CAN system. The way I understand it, there is an accelerometer in the car for the PASM system (2009 997.2 and later only) and the DSC (and OEM Bilstein) system reads to then determine shock settings (among other items). I would love to just pull what g-values are buzzing through the CAN bus. And when varying tire pressures, for example.I posted a question in the DSC Tuning thread where DSC staff reply. I have some fairly large flat parking lots near me and would love to layout a skid pad and measure the Gs that could be pulled. I use the Torque app for the OBD2 stuff and it shows that it can be extended to work with the three accelerometers (plus total). If the phone accelerometers aren't good enough, I think some standalone GPS units come with them for lateral G-force. I wonder if it logs it though (you could at least use the values to calibrate your phone's accelerometers)? In any case, you want a visual cue of the current G-force to then probably correlate to how the chassis tuning has changed programmatically (how it feels). The Self-Learning Traction Control Option uses the CAN BUS to connect to our Digital Ignition Controller allowing you to control your ignition system for power reduction.Hey Bruce - I think you're also saying there's no UI with the DSC app that shows G-force. When used with a Profiler, the touch screen built into the Profiler is used to control the VPS, so no need for the optional Remote display. The VPS integrates easily with other Davis Technologies products such as the Profiler or Profiler EFI Module to add high-resolution data and Wheelie Control. The VPS can add advanced features such as Wheelie Control & Traction Control to a car with a carburetor and standard ignition box for a much smaller investment than most EFI systems. This is very useful in vehicles that don’t have EFI systems already installed. The control strategy can be implemented via an existing EFI system already installed in the vehicle, or by adding features from Davis Technologies such as Wheelie Control or Self Learning Traction Control to the VPS.īy adding these additional features, the VPS can be installed in a car and easily have features such as Wheelie Control, Self Learning Traction Control and data. The VPS can be used simply as an add-on to your current data system and using that data to control various situations, such as excessive Pitch, Roll or Yaw. To help reduce vibrations even further as well as stabilize internal temperature swings, which greatly affect gyros, the VPS is fluid-filled and temperature controlled. Most systems available today simply have accelerometers and gyros mounted directly on the circuit board of a data system or EFI system, where vibrations play havoc with the measurements. This allows the data to remain unchanged by filtering methods that affect the accuracy of the data. The VPS utilizes an advanced mounting system designed to limit the vibrations the internal sensors are subjected to. With over 3 years of development and testing, the VPS has proven itself to give the most accurate data available. The Vehicle Position Sensor was designed specifically for racing. Racers utilize it’s data to tune their car, prevent excessive wheelies, throw the parachutes if they get in trouble and much more. The Davis VPS is a revolutionary product unrivaled in the racing world for accurately measuring, recording and acting upon the G-Forces imparted on a race car.
